What if the Insurance Company Denies Your Governmental Hail Storm Claim?

When water droplets freeze and turn into hailstones, damage to buildings, community centers, city halls, schools, and various other governmental buildings can occur depending upon the size of the hailstones coupled with the force of the wind.

Some of the most common governmental hail storm claims are damages to roofs as well as siding, windows, gutters and other areas of a building. Sometimes the hailstones can poke holes in the roof, create dents in the metal, or even compromise the shingles, shortening the life of the roof and making it more vulnerable to water leaks.

After a hailstorm, municipalities should have city and state buildings inspected for hail damage because sometimes water damage and roof leaks do not show up for a long time after a hail or wind storm. If you don't know that there is damage and you wait too long to turn in a hail storm claim, the insurance company may deny the claim.

What if the insurance company denies the claim?

Once you file a claim, the insurance company will send an inspector out to look at the roof or the area of the building you are claiming was damaged by the hailstorm. If the inspector reports that the damage looks to be from wear and tear or age, your insurance adjustor may deny your claim.

If your insurance company denies your claim, you should not stop there. You should contact an experienced insurance claim attorney who is skilled in these cases. Attorneys may be able to find a loophole, have the insurance company re-open a closed hail damage claim, renegotiate with the insurance adjustor, and get a second damage evaluation inspection.

this is a subject near and dear to my heart. starting out as a hail damage roofer in georgia a few years back i was shocked by the behavior on both sides. I was told by my boss that basically "if they let you on the roof, tell em to file a claim" conversly, i saw time and time again how adjusters were just flat out doing people wrong, usually based on how good of a fight the person was likely to give. i knew there was a better way and developed a system merging hail map data with contact information and cell phones. sure enough-6 million in sales in less than a year. spent the last 6 months turning what i learned into a website. If you all's firm had any interest, I would be willing to give you a membership for free in return for some honest feedback and if you think its deserving, maybe a positive review or comment. keep fightin the good fight!
