One year has passed since 17 tornadoes touched down in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on a single day—April 3, 2012. We were reminded one year later on April 3, 2013, just how many people are still recovering from their Texas property damages and losses.
Reports indicated that over 30 people were injured, thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed, and many structures were damaged from three EF2, one EF3, and 13 EF0 tornadoes that touched down throughout the area.
- In Lancaster and Dallas, the EF2 tornado damaged an estimated 2,000 buildings and 300 homes. About half of the homes that were damaged were actually destroyed.
- In Kennedale and Arlington, the EF2 tornado damaged more than 500 homes and destroyed 32 structures. Even churches, nursing homes, and businesses were damaged as the tornado tore through the area.
- In Rockwall County, the third EF2 touched down and traveled into Hunt County, damaging many homes and completely destroying three homes.
- In Kaufman County, the EF3 tornado touched down and was on the ground for over eight miles tearing a roof off a school, destroying two homes and damaging many more.

Unfortunately, some people did not receive fair offers from their insurance company, which has led them to litigation. If you received too low of an offer, or if the insurance company undervalued your property damages, you need to contact an insurance claim attorney in Texas to help you secure the settlement you deserve.
