Ultimately, the jury agreed and determined that State Farm did not keep its promises under the policy it sold to Mr. Pitre, finding in his favor that the carrier breached the contract between them. The Court also determined that State Farm must pay attorneys fees and interest to the Plaintiff, issuing a final award of nearly $110,000.00. Bill Voss, the firm's founder and owner, stated that more verdicts like this are necessary to help insurance carriers, like State Farm, understand that they must treat policyholders fairly or there will be consequences. "We don't know why these carriers won't pay what they owe, but as long as they keep forcing us to trial, we'll keep going. It's just a shame that our clients are forced into this process to get what they're owed under the policy. We believe strongly that our juries will agree.”
